“I want whatever hurt you that caused you to hurt me to stop. If it doesn’t end there, it ends here.”

 

Ray Tsou’s piece It Ends Here is a performance built from sound, movement, and textile. Expanding on Tsou’s previous sculpture work “I want whatever hurt you that caused you to hurt me to stop”, the piece unfolds through soundscape, fractured melodies, industrial pulses, and whispered text, guides the work through tenderness, volatility, and restraint. Tracing the afterimage of intimacy and the process of letting go. 

 

Featuring a handmade crochet installation and matching costume, the piece situates the body within a tactile, handwoven environment that evokes both protection and constraint. Original music composed for the performance forms its sonic foundation, unfolding alongside a live DJ set that expands and distorts the soundscape in real time. Semi-improvised movement allows Tsou to respond instinctively to shifts in rhythm, texture, and atmosphere, creating a visceral dialogue between body and sound. The work was performed at Option Front Studio in July 2025.
